Again I matched heart rate to intensity. I rowed until my heart rate climbed to 140 bpm, then eased off until it dropped to 130 or lower. Focused on keeping my back slightly curved like a piece of rounded whalebone. I tried to keep it curved throughout the entire stroke — at the catch, during the drive, at the finish, all the way through the recovery.
