The Goal: Keep my pelvis in neutral alignment with my spine by keeping my center of mass (cm) and center of gravity (cog) inside Dr. Duboussett’s Cone of Economy. To do this I decreased the degrees of forward and backward lean. The result was a force curve that showed I was front-loading the drive — that is, starting the drive off the stretcher with my buttocks. Isn’t this what Igor Grinko coached for? What’s more, if trying to learn how to start the drive off the stretcher with my buttocks has taught me anything, it is this — you cannot hope to learn how to do it unless you know how to use your stretcher.
