Another steady state, low intensity workout, focused on technique. I have forgotten so much. For Example Gordon Hamilton’s admonition, "Think quickness through the water, not power." But I am getting a little better at concentrating on squeezing back smoothly and easily. And this brought to mind Fairbairn’s admonishment, "If you can’t do it easily, you can’t do it at all." Which reminded me of Fairbairn’s truth of a good stroke, "rowing through without feeling any heaviness or effort." So whenever I felt the least heaviness or effort I forced myself to slow down. Fairbairn encouraged his oarsmen,"Row slow to row fast." And, of course, "finish with the shoulders slightly hunched over, the belly drawn in, and the small of the back rowed well out." I even remembered at the release to squeeze hard.
