First time in a very long while that I have rowed a full 60 minutes without taking a break. I did it by ignoring split times and strokes per minute, and pulling less hard and readjusting body position at the slightest hint of pain.
Also I had a revelation this morning. Probably, to be more specific, a major revelation!
In readjusting body position I discovered that I could abate the sharp pain in my neck and trapezius muscles by drawing my elbows past my trunk. Does this mean that all these years I have been finishing incorrectly? Judging by this afternoon’s workout it would seem so. The sharp pain that has become so worrisome for me appears to be caused by my tightening my neck and trapezius muscles at the finish.
