Finally, after years of trying, I have succeeded at erging at a steady, easy pace for a full 60 minutes. Which is to say that this afternoon I stayed focused on technique for my entire workout. A number of times my attention was drawn to the Performance Monitor, specifically to the box that monitors meters rowed, but I was able to resist what in the past for me has proven irresistible—namely, the temptation to pull harder and rate higher. I ignored split times, strokes per minute, and meters rowed. My whole being stayed focused on being unhurried and smooth and pain free. First time that’s ever happened!
