I believe that the force curve is stable enough that I can row with eyes closed. So the first half of the workout this is what I did.
The goal was to stay pain-free and concentrate on that part of the back where the tailbone ends. I tried to get length by bringing my heels close to the seat. I also tried to maintain the natural shape curve of my lumbar spine and follow Fairbairn’s advice by taking the weight of the pull about six inches up the back. Occasionally I opened my eyes and looked at the PM5. The force curve looked good and with very little perceived exertion I was maintaining my usual splits.

Twenty-nine minutes into the workout the PM5’s display froze. I immediately telephoned Concept2. Dina answered and after hearing the problem connected me to Nathan, who handles technical, engineering problems. It turns out that the batteries had an insufficient charge. There was not enough juice left to display the Force Curve or stay connected to the ErgData app. I finished the workout without replacing the batteries. With the new batteries I got later everything seems to be working again as it should. I'll know tomorrow for sure.
