Sitting upright, rowing only to my strong point, maintaining the natural shaped curve of my spine, staying inside Dr. Dubousset’s cone of economy, finishing the slide before driving off the stretcher — these are the basic postures and motions of sculling. Whether on-water or on an erg they are the givens of every workout. For me they are what produce an ideal force curve.

The overriding goal is to row pain-free and produce an ideal force curve every stroke. This has been the goal since the 17th of January and the first 30 minute workout on the Dynamic Indoor Rower. I believe that finally I may be reaching it. For this reason it seems to me time to add more to the mix — specifically to concentrate on working out at stroke ratings typical of training and racing on water and producing more power at these ratings.
