I once wrote that patience at the catch was one of the goofiest ideas in rowing; however after years of on-water rowing I am reconsidering. This comes with the realization that the Recovery isn’t finished until the blades are adequately immersed. Patience at the Catch means not rushing into the Catch. It means not stopping short before driving off the stretcher. It means taking the time to go to your strong point.
