Row At A Rate Of 18 - 22 Spm
Stay Focused On A Force Curve That Shows Peak Force Early
And Preserved Through The Drive
Everything Else Falls Into Place
How many times have I proven the above to myself? The stroke rates for this row averaged 19 spm for each 30 minute set, the force curves looked rectangular, and the rowing just plain felt good. And I must add that I very much enjoyed it. It is the way rowing should feel.
There is one odd thing that needs mentioning. For all 1,210 strokes I felt zero back pain. My back hasn’t felt so strong, so pain-free in years. I don’t think that I have gone an hour in decades without feeling some kind of back pain. This is a very hard thing for me to write because it sounds just unbelievable. Either on-water or on an erg I never thought I would complete a row without having to endure some back pain.
