All-time PR. I worked hard for this, hoping to go sub-7 the following week.
Prep: pasta for supper the night before, hydration. Plenty of sleep. Woke up on my own. Morning of: banana and soylent. Jog to LUC. Positive banter with teammates. 20 mins warmup.
Overall, not bad. It felt a bit more relaxed than some other workouts / tests, and the lower avg heart rate confirms this. I am getting good at holding a desired split. Toughest section was at about 700–600m remaining. Fatigue was setting in, yet the finish seemed so far away, and convincing myself to turn the screw was tough. The key motivator was knowing that if I stop, I’ll just have to redo the test ALONE.
