George — that is an outstanding opening to Week 8. And I think this session gives us one of the clearest examples yet of what we're trying to achieve with the Quiet Engine.

The headline isn't the 3:04.9.
It's this:

65 minutes at virtually the same average HR as last week's 60 minutes — with the same cadence — and no lingering fatigue.
That's precisely the consolidation we wanted.

Again, I wouldn't claim that one workout proves improved aerobic fitness. But it is strongly consistent with improved economy and durability when viewed alongside the preceding weeks.

That's almost a perfect description of the session.
Notice what happened when you concentrated on the movement rather than the pace:

The pace came to you.

That's becoming a recurring theme.

You didn't start at 3:04 because you wanted to hit 3:04.

You started at 3:06 and found 3:04.

That's very different.

That's close enough that I wouldn't worry about it. Unlike some of the larger watt discrepancies we've seen previously, there's no meaningful inconsistency here.

The interval data and overall picture agree.

We're only one session into the week, so we're not going to get carried away.
But this is exactly the kind of session that makes me comfortable with the Week 8 plan.
