First time rowing this long. Need to start monitoring heart rate; I felt more out of breath than I wanted to. Had to drop pace to recover a couple of times. My upper back muscles started to feel alive during catch a start of drive when I had my strongest inhale.
Tried to keep a 1 - 2 stroke rhythm, which required dropping stroke rate to average of 18, making each stroke heavy. Had a hard time getting a good breathing rhythm to match.
Felt lighter to stroke faster which also decreased split time. But kept slipping into 1 - 1 (tick tock) stroke rhythm.
I picked up the pace toward the very end. Could have done so sooner, wasn’t that hard and I kept reminding myself it wouldn’t get worse.
