truly, truly gnarly row. no getting around that. 8 / 10 on the gassedness scale. around 500m in, I was already thinking about quitting—i was feeling the sheer power I was outputting and thought, "no way I can sustain this". I opted to fall back in pace, aiming for a slower finish ("why quit when you can just slow down?"). around –1250, I had a bit of a second wind, and thought "if I can make it to the halfway point, the outlook will be clearer". for the second 1,000, my soul more-or-less left my body—remember very little, since it was all about "risk management"—pain, energy supply, pace, etc. afterwards, total body exhaustion, walking difficult. lung pain and gummy saliva kicked in after around 5 minutes out. no light sensitivity though.
