holy crap, that was a hard row. for the first 500 meters, I felt invincible. my first pull out the gate clocked me at 1:51. "this is going to be easy", I thought. "going to set records and shit." my higher-order planning faculties stepped in, and said "let a little off". I slowed down to around 1:54. by –1,500, I "strategically" slowed down to around 1:55, aiming to ration reserves. but strategy soon gave way to necessity. by –1,000, I was taxed, maintaining pace but only by giving it everything. by –500, I was running on fumes, getting red warning lights: "gas tank empty. fuel levels critically low." I spent the last 500 in a state of amnesia, "living on a prayer". massive exhaustion and heart rate afterwards, really fucked myself up.
