Every Meter Matters - Rowing against cancer
After 29 years of rugby, countless matches, victories, injuries, friendships, championships and unforgettable moments, I have officially retired from the sport that has shaped so much of my life last year.
But retirement does not mean standing still.
I have set my sights on a new challenge: indoor rowing.
What started as a way to stay fit and competitive has quickly become a new passion. Now I want to use that passion for something bigger than myself — raising funds for the Deutsche Krebshilfe (German Cancer Foundation).
Cancer affects all of us in some way. Friends, teammates, family members, colleagues — too many people face this fight every single day. Through indoor rowing competitions, endurance events, and personal challenges on the erg, I hope to turn every meter rowed into support, awareness, and donations for cancer research and patient support.
Over the coming months, I will be competing in multiple indoor rowing events and taking on demanding challenges to push my physical and mental limits once again. The competitive spirit from rugby is still alive — it simply has a new purpose now.
I am asking for your support.
Whether it is a donation, sharing this campaign, or simply encouraging the journey, every contribution helps. Together, we can make every stroke count in the fight against cancer.
Thank you for being part of this next chapter with me.
One team. One fight. Every meter matters.
