My life always has been about citius-altius-fortius!
Dutch-born, but living and working and semi-retired in Portugal since 1977. I started ERGING in April 2001 as the joints in knees, ankles and back started to give in. During the 2011-2012 season managed to row well over 7.000.000m. In total now well over 60.000.000m. I broke most of my PB´s during the 2011-2012 season, age 63 and did a 100km under 7 hours. My best performances are from 5K upwards. So I am more an endurance and stamina man and not a power or sprint person. Strange in a way as I have been a competitive javelin and discus thrower in my teens and twenties and did a lot of weight-lifting, being core part of my training. Passing the the age of 70 found new motivation after buying a Bike and Ski Erg in April 2018. Aiming for WB/PB first places on the Bike Erg and if possible on the Ski Erg. Managed to set 8 WR on the BikeErg in the 70+ class. Age 74 l lost motivation as I am still working kind of full time and find it a struggle to keep up the trainings sessions. Still manage to do relatively well on middle long distances. Now age 75 picking it up again and trying to find the way up in the rankings.
